Abstraksi

This paper aims to examine the character education of early childhood according to the thoughts of Ki Hajar Dewantara and Maria Montessori. Character education is needed to produce a quality generation. It is important in the formation of children's character from an early age, so that their attention to education is prioritized for early childhood. Characteristics applied by Ki Hajar Dewantara in applying teaching methods using games and culture. The education system proposed by Ki Hadjar Dewantara is ing ngarsa sung tuladha, ingmadya mangun karsa, and tut wuri handayani. Maria Montessori is an Italian educator, scientist and doctor. He developed a method of educating children by giving them the freedom to do activities and organize daily activities. This research uses literature research. literature The type of research used is the thoughts of Ki Hajar Dewanara and Maria Montessori from journals, theses that have been published. The method of data analysis is descriptive analysis. According to Maria Montessori, the place where early childhood education takes place is more focused on classrooms and playgrounds for children, and has been designed in such a way. Meanwhile, according to Ki Hajar Dewantara, he has a broader thought than Maria Montessori's, namely that the place where education takes place for early childhood is not only in the children's school environment. But in the family environment and the community environment.
