This study aims to describe and analyze multicultural Islamic education in the view of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid and Nurcholish Madjid to develop the concept of education in the midst of a society consisting of various cultural and religious backgrounds. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the type of library research or library research. This data collection technique is by digging up data or variables in the form of notes, books, journals or other sources which are then accumulated into written records or data. The data analysis used is in the form of content analysis. The study of the concept of multicultural Islamic education will always be interesting to discuss, because this is a reality of events that actually occur in the midst of Indonesian society where the majority of the population consists of several kinds of customs, cultures and religions. The results of this study are several concepts of Gus Dur and Cak Nur's thoughts on multicultural Islamic education that may be integrated, so that they can be applied in formal and non-formal education. Thoughts KH. Abdurrahman Wahid and Nurcholish Madjid are the right choice for comparison regarding this multicultural Islamic education, in addition to the background of both of them who are both original products of Islamic boarding schools, as well as their very broad thoughts in addressing the diversity of cultures and religions in this country. Both of them put forward a high tolerance for existing differences, for the sake of creating peaceful coexistence in the midst of cultural and belief differences.
