Abstraksi

Microplastic is a plastic component with a size (< 5 mm). This research is done to determine the characteristics of microplastics in water and sediment in the Lower Bengawan Solo River. The method used to identify microplastics in water refers to NOAA or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (2015). The method used for identification of sediments refers to research by Ling et al., (2019). The abundance of microplastics found in water and sediments in the lower reaches of the Bengawan Solo River is due to plastic waste which is found along the river body. Types of microplastics, such as fragments, pellets, fibers and films, were identified at the three downstream sampling locations. These microplastics come in a variety of colors, including black, brown, red, green, and blue. In addition, the size of microplastics in the Bengawan Solo river water consists of various variations, with a range of 150.00 µm to 478.88 µm. The size of microplastics in the Bengawan Solo river sediments ranged from 325.73 µm to 448 µm. The abundance of microplastics in the Bengawan Solo river water shows a sig value = 0.644 which means > 0.05 meaning that there is no significant difference at the three sampling locations and the abundance of microplastics in the sediments of the Bengawan Solo river shows the same thing, because the sig value = 0.083 which means > 0.05 means that there is no significant difference at the three sampling locations. These findings underscore the complexity of the environmental impacts that can arise from an increase in microplastics in aquatic environments.
